Members Spotlight – Anne Shrago

This month’s spotlight is on Anne Shrago, a member since 2012.

Anne joined the TBS for the community of other like-minded musicians, who love the blues! She loves being in the company of some great local blues musicians!

She recalls going to a Blue Note Grill blues jam one night, with her SG guitar in tow, only to fall in love with the bass!
Anne found the love of music as a teenager playing flute and banjo. She stopped playing music when life’s demands prevailed. Many decades later she picked up the guitar and took lessons from Jon Shain.
Anne is from the Nashville (NC) area, but has lived in Wilmington (NC), Roanoke (VA), Blacksburg (VA) and Raleigh while attending grad school (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics) at NCSU.

Anne loves many blues artists, but currently her favorites are Danielle Nicole, Sue Foley, Walter Trout, Freddie King, Albert King, The Fabulous Thunderbirds & Otis Rush.

She is currently playing bass in a band called “Vintage Groove”, which is a mixture of R&B, Rock, Blues & Funk. In her words, “All danceable stuff, no slow tunes!”

Besides music, Anne is a lifelong equestrian. She currently has 3 horses on her farm. She also loves travelling, especially internationally.

Anne is also an avid reader, movie lover and hiker.
