
Our newest Members Spotlight is on Dennis Beckwith.
Dennis originally moved to the Durham area in 1997, now resides in Raleigh. Dennis has been a TBS member since
2018. He met his wife at the Blue Note Grill and was married there by owner Bill Whittington!
Dennis was the music coordinator for the TBS and Blue Note Grill blues
jams for 2 years, 2018 and 2019 and was in the process of passing the baton over to Lo
Taylor before the pandemic hit!
Dennis is an accomplished guitarist and plays semi-professionally with his group
“beckwith”. One of his previous band offerings, “The Groovynators”, participated in the
TBS Road to Memphis competition back in 2022.
Dennis plays primarily electric guitar but has been working on his acoustic stuff recently. He’s played many genres, and his
style incorporates them all, approaching each song by playing or singing only what is
needed, highlighting the instrumental work with sounds and textures that help tell the
story.
Dennis came to music through his family, his mom was a pianist, His first instrument
was a tuba!
Dennis calls the Allman Brothers, Robben Ford and Eric Clapton
inspirations and some of his favorite musicians. He’s been playing music in some form
for 60 years!!!
In addition to playing guitar, Dennis also operates a recording studio in
his home in Raleigh.
Dennis is also an avid bicyclist, and you’ll likely see him somewhere on the Capital
Greenway! Dennis and his wife love to travel and have recently been to Costa Rica and
Greece.
