Durham, NC –  Triangle Blues Society (TBS) 2017 Blues Challenge winners Frank Greathouse, Bull City Blues Band, and Buddy Black will perform in the TBS Road to Memphis IBC Fundraiser taking place Sunday, January 7, 2018, 4-8pm at the Blue Note Grill in Durham, NC. Tickets are $10 for non-TBS members, $8 for TBS members, and are available at the door. All proceeds go to Challenge winners to assist in travel costs to Memphis, TN.

The TBS Challenge winners, Greathouse (solo/duo) and Bull City Blues Band (band), plus Buddy Black (best self-produced CD) will perform, then open the monthly 1st Sunday Blues Jam to sign-up players.

Caroline Leitschuh and John Graner, two teachers from RDU Blues, will be giving beginners dance lessons.  RDU Blues is an organization dedicated to sharing the joy of blues and fusion dancing with the Triangle community in North Carolina.

Win a Fender Squier guitar autographed by Ana Popovic, Scott Sharrard (Greg Allman’s guitarists and musical director), Paul Barrere, Fred Tackett (Little Feat guitarists), Chris O’Leary, Tas Crus, Tommy Castro, Paul Barrere, Fred Tackett, Craig Fuller, and Cool John Ferguson. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Blue Note Grill host stand up until the time of the drawing. The event also includes a 50/50 raffle.

Winners compete in affiliate blues societies from all over the world in two categories – solo/duo and band –  to win the right to travel to Memphis, Tennessee to further compete in the finals.

The 2018 International Blues Challenge (IBC) will be held from January 16 – 20, 2018 in Memphis, TN. The International Showcase will open the event on January 16 with competition rounds on January 17-19 in venues located along historic Beale Street.  The world’s largest gathering of Blues acts compete for cash, prizes, and industry recognition and represent an international search by The Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations for the Blues Band and Solo/Duo Blues Act ready to take their act to the international stage.

Triangle Blues Society (TBS), a 501 (c3) organization, is an all-volunteer non-profit organization working together to support, promote, and grow blues music in the greater Raleigh-Durham North Carolina area. TBS has been an affiliate of the Blues Foundation since 1996.
