About: Each year The Blues Foundation sponsors a world-wide blues challenge. The largest gathering of blues musicians IN THE WORLD! Affiliates from all over the globe send their winning Band and Solo/Duo Challenge acts for the opportunity to participate in the International Blues Challenge (IBC), Memphis, TN. This year’s IBC will begin Tues., Jan. 28, 2020, with the actual competition (quarter finals) beginning Wed., Jan. 29, proceeding with semi-finals, then Finals culminating at the grand Orpheum Theatre on Sat., Feb. 1.
Band’s winnings include: $3K, Great gigs, including: Legendary Rhythm and Blues – Caribbean Cruise; Heritage Blues Festival, Wheeling, WV; Telluride Blues and Brews Festival, Telluride, CO; Eureka Springs Blues Weekend, Eureka Springs, AR; Gladstone Summer Time Blues Fest, Gladstone, MO; Levitt Shell Concert Series, Memphis, TN; Big Blues Bender, Las Vegas, NV; and MORE! 2nd and 3rd place winners get a sweet package, as well!
Solo/Duo winnings include: $2,500, Legendary Rhythm and Blues – Left Coast Cruise; Heritage Blues Festival Wheeling, WV; Alonzo’s Memorial Day Picnic, Baltimore, MD; Hot Springs Blues Festival, Hot Springs, AR, and much more!
More than half (at least 51%) of any performing group must be legal residents of North Carolina and be members of the Triangle Blues Society as of July 31, 2019.
Qualifying bands will be notified via email provided on application.
